Visa Clients Recognized at Annual DPS Conference

Building strong partnerships, collaborating and growing together are the goals each year for the Visa DPS Users’ Conference. DPS, the largest processor of Visa transactions globally, hosts the event to bring their clients closer, share information about available processing solutions and uncover ways to perform well together.

Aptly themed Future Ready – Together 2017, the conference provided an engaging, exciting milieu glimpsing into the future of the payments and technology ecosystem, and how Visa DPS is committed to partnering with clients at every level.

Included in that commitment is recognizing best-in-class client performance. With an awards experience mirroring the spotlights of Hollywood, Visa DPS clients took home some sparkle of their own at the 2017 Users Conference, March 6 – 9 in Denver, Colorado. The Visa DPS Client Achievement Awards recognized in total 37 awards in eight distinct categories for the 2016 program year.

Since its 2015 inception, the Visa DPS Client Achievement Awards has honored 33 unique, high-performing DPS clients. Performance indicators such as Highest Authorization Approval Rate, Lowest Fraud Rate, and Highest Portfolio Growth have become industry benchmarks, and there’s no question that clients are gunning to achieve top marks.

Complementing the quantitative group is the Excellence in Innovation category, where challenge, creativity, and solution meet in a qualitative apex. Five finalists were selected from a pool of client submissions, and conference attendees voted their favorites: ADP, LLC and Arrowhead Credit Union, respectively.

The 2016 program saw the introduction of two new categories: Emerging Payment Adoption and Pursuit of Excellence, which recognize use of Visa Checkout technology and Tokenization, respectively. The Client Achievement Awards also saw some new faces who are already thinking about the next year's awards.

We were very excited when the achievement awards were unveiled last year. We had a new manager come onboard and he came in with a fresh idea saying, 'We're going to win that next year.' And I said, 'Okay, I'll accept that challenge.'

This year also saw the first-ever tie in a category, the Emerging Payment Adoption Award. Standing together with their crystals, co-winners JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A., Alliant Credit Union, and Schools Financial, raised their hardware in a victorious trident.

Best-in-Class

Repeat winner Commerce Bank once again walked away with several crystals, winning in an all-time high six categories, while five other institutions also earned more than one crystal. First-year DPS client, Numerica Credit Union, took home honors in the Highest Portfolio Growth and Pursuit of Excellence categories.

Highest POS Usage. Recognizing programs in which active cardholders have the greatest usage rate at the point of sale. Valuation based on number of transactions per active card, averaged over the 12-month period.

Deepening Partnerships

The DPS Client Achievement Awards were developed as a mindful, meaningful way to deepen relationships with clients. Through this program, DPS will recognize top-performing issuers and identify growth opportunities to take partnerships to the next level. It also helps the DPS team tackle some daunting goals: to measure performance, identify opportunities to improve operations, recognize excellence, encourage innovation and identify best practices.
