“I love seeing great things come together, especially right in my hometown of Los Angeles,” said Kaley Cuoco. “Now I get rewarded for things I already do – shopping, eating and paying with my Visa card. The security, speed
and convenience I have through Visa makes the Uber Local Offers program a no-brainer.”
Participating businesses will include local favorites in Los Angeles like Barcito, Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, Wurtsküche and The Pie Hole and in San Francisco, Delarosa, Super Duper, and Uno Dos Tacos, and many more. Ike’s, Specialty’s Café & Bakery and Mixt Greens are just a few of the favorites on board in both cities.
Here’s how it works:
- Riders can open their Uber app and select Local Offers in the menu.*
- First timers are prompted to accept the program’s terms and conditions. Those who don’t have a Visa credit card on file in the Uber app will need to add one before they can enroll in the program.
- From there, users are shown various participating shops and restaurants where they can earn points.
- Users enroll in the offers that interest them, and earn at least 1 point for every $1 spent* at those shops
and restaurants, as long as they pay with their Visa credit card linked to their Uber app. 100 points will convert to up to $10 off an Uber ride.
“Our partnership with Uber and local businesses is a great example of Visa’s ability to deliver value to businesses and consumers in a way that is simple and seamless,” said Terry Angelos, vice president of loyalty and offers for Visa. “The rider experience can now be extended beyond the car and into the local community, where merchants can access $2 billion in local spending while rewarding cardholders for everyday purchases. That’s a relationship that makes sense for riders, Uber and local businesses.”
That $2 billion comes from Uber riders who use their Visa card to shop and dine soon after they exit an Uber. With Uber Local Offers, shops and restaurants can encourage riders to make a purchase in exchange for discounted rides, driving higher customer engagement and loyalty. And Visa Commerce Network makes it all happen by connecting transactions between two partnering merchants. For more information on the Visa Commerce Network, visit visa.com/loyalty/commercenetwork.
*Uber Local Offers rolls out to Uber riders in San Francisco and Los Angeles today, with more cities planned for later this year. Points received for every dollar spent may vary.
