Football fans got a special look at Apple Pay at this year’s Super Bowl XLIX.
Visa set up at the NFL Shop in Phoenix to show football fans the Apple Pay experience, with some help from DeAngelo Williams and Greg Olsen of the Carolina Panthers, the Tennessee Titans’ Jason McCourty and Eddie Royal of the San Diego Chargers.
Better known for how they handle the pigskin, these athletes gave fans a demonstration of how they can make contactless payments with select iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches.
They also showed off Apple Pay’s special defensive maneuvers. Unlike a regular transaction, Apple Pay does not share the numbers on your debit or credit card, generating a transaction-specific security code every time a purchase is made.
