Part of the Golden Gate Ferry’s business is transporting commuters into the city for work and back home to Sausalito. It’s also a local secret on how to see the city from the water while skipping the touristy boat tours.
Hop on at the terminal just behind the Ferry Building, and take in San Francisco’s iconic cityscape. Along the way, you’ll catch a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Angel Island and the Bay Bridge.
The ferry has warm seating indoors and open air seating on the deck above, so be sure to bring a jacket.
The journey takes about 40 minutes one-way and docks right in downtown Sausalito, a quaint waterfront town with a rich maritime history. The terminal is walking distance to dozens of shops, art galleries and restaurants.
