Visa Secure Remote Commerce (SRC) FAQs for merchants
-
Visa has been working to deliver a smooth transition to a high quality, easy and smart checkout experience with Visa Secure Remote Commerce (Visa SRC), based on the EMV® Secure Remote Commerce (SRC) Specification v1.0.
Visa Checkout merchants will transition to Visa SRC from summer 2020. Please contact your Visa Account Executive or payments service provider to learn more. -
The networks are making efforts to coordinate where possible and testing timeframes may vary. Visa is committed to delivering the best experience for you and your consumers in a seamless manner.
-
EMVCo has not published an official consumer facing name for EMV SRC. We have heard from many of you that a consumer facing name is necessary for everything from marketing, to customer service, to ADA compliance. Visa will continue to work with EMVCo to push for a consumer facing name prior to the transition date. Visa will provide more information when available.
-
Previously, we shared that enrolment and card management through and the Visa Checkout destination site would be limited to Visa cards when Visa Checkout transitioned to Visa SRC. To conduct proper network interoperability testing, this change has been made effective. Only Visa branded cards can be added and managed on Visa SRC destination site. Non-Visa branded cards are no longer visible trough Visa SRC destination site.
All cards enrolled in Visa Checkout are still available for consumers to checkout with on participating merchant sites.
-
With the new Visa SRC checkout experience, cards from other payment networks in Visa Checkout account, like Mastercard or American Express, may not be available. Consumers can visit Mastercard and American Express to manage or enable those cards. Consumers can also enable or manage their cards from participating networks during checkout at participating merchants.
-
You can visit the Visa Brand Asset Manager (VBAM) portal for Visa SRC related assets such as email templates, digital banners, social media images and landing pages. The marketing toolkit included in the previously distributed transition package contains more information on VBAM.
If you do not have a VBAM account link, please contact your AE for marketing materials.
-
Existing Visa Checkout consumers were informed of the transition to Visa SRC with a service update. The communication highlighted the availability of the new experience, its easy, smart and secure benefits, and the simple setup process. Visa will continue to promote and encourage the seamless checkout experience with additional activities throughout 2020.
