From Dubai to San Francisco, Visa treated Uber riders to a fun adventure during the opening weekend of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Riders who were game, by selecting RioPOOL in their Uber app, carpooled together in cities worldwide for the chance to be on camera and enjoy an Olympic Games experience provided by Visa.
The global joy rides included tablets to make sport-themed selfies (with 3D-animated judo kicks, soccer balls and more) and a few surprise visits from Team Visa athletes, including Olympic Gold medalists Missy Franklin (USA, Swimming), Wayde van Niekerk (South Africa, Athletics) and more. Visa RioPOOL kicked off in Rio, San Francisco, New York City, Mexico City, Santiago and Dubai, where Uber users who paid with Visa received up to US$5 off their ride.
The result: this fun-filled video where new friends from unexpected places unite on the road to acceptance.
