In 2018, Visa became the first ever UEFA sponsor dedicated to women's football, following the unbundling by UEFA of sponsorship rights from the men's game.

The sponsorship offers an exciting platform to champion diversity and inclusion and underlines Visa's commitment to celebrating and supporting women's football at all levels.

The partnership with UEFA also demonstrates Visa’s ongoing global commitment to enabling powerful sporting moments as shown by our long-term partnerships with FIFA, the Olympics and more recently the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF).

As women's football continues to thrive, Visa's partnership with UEFA supports efforts to change the image of the women's game and make football the No. 1 sport among girls and women in Europe.

Upcoming events

As part of the sponsorship, Visa will support women's football at all levels, from grassroots development to UEFA Women's Champions League.

This includes events such as the UEFA Women's EURO, UEFA Women’s Champions League, UEFA European Futsal Championship, UEFA European Women’s Under 17 and Under 19 Championship until 2025.

The UEFA Women’s EURO^TM takes place every four years and England will be hosting the next championship, taking place in 2022 from 6^th July to 21^stJuly.

Visa and UEFA have also collaborated on special projects, such as the Visa x UEFA #PlayAnywhere, which is a series of vlogs hosted by the footballer and Olympian Liv Cooke, freestyling around cities in Europe as a part of the #WePlayStrong campaign.

Team Visa European Summit

Team Visa Summit hosted 14 Top female football players as part of our “top supporter of Women's football in Europe” ambition. The two-day event successfully achieved its objective to immerse the players in Visa’s brand, products and values, help players build their own personal brand, capture content for local and regional campaign use (including developing assets for 20 clients across Europe). Team Visa players also conducted media interviews, which were led by Visa’s Corporate Communications team and resulted in several headlines validating Visa’s commitment to supporting the development of women's football.
