As captain for both Besiktas and Turkey’s national women’s team, Didem continues to fight for recognition of the women’s game in Turkey. In her interview with the Guardian in 2019, Didem explained how she had to become her own role model in the game. She is certainly a role model off the pitch too, juggling work as an analyst for the men’s national team and working as a physical education teacher, alongside completing an English language course, which was organized through Visa.
Didem has also recently graduated from Bahcesehir Universitesi with a Sports Administration Master Degree and, if she wasn’t busy enough, is about to start on a doctorate. Didem continues to break barriers and inspire others. This summer (2023) she will be starting her first grassroots football camp for local girls, her aim is to provide the younger generation a chance and opportunity to try out football, especially for those who may not have a chance to otherwise. After the recent Earthquakes, Didem is also working with local charities to raise money for communities in Turkey, she is definitely an inspiration.
Didem also received a scholarship from the coaching course opened by UEFA and has the UEFA B certificate to attend there with hopes to take the course to get UEFA A. Her aim is to turn her analysis career into a technical director career.
